Akama Ano Youth Issues Warning Against Contemplated Eze Aro Coronation on December 26th in Arochukwu

Youth Wing Takes Definitive Stand to Safeguard Arochukwu Kingdom's Royal Tradition

 November 11, 2023

In a display of unwavering solidarity and determination, the youth wing of Akama Ano, representing four pivotal villages in the esteemed Arochukwu Kingdom, convened at the historic Avia Ovuru Market on this auspicious day. Their gathering was marked by a resolute proclamation, cautioning against any attempts to coronate another Eze Aro on December 26th. This steadfast position follows the recent coronation by Eze Dr. Kanu Nwa Kanu on His Royal Majesty (HRM) Mazi Godwin Kanu Idei, the 9th monarch of the venerable Arochukwu Kingdom, an event that transpired on October 20, 2023.

The Akama Ano youth wing, in no uncertain terms, issued a stern warning against the proposed coronation of Pastor N'mazi Eberechukwu Oji. Their emphasis resided in the preservation of time-honored traditions and customs, a sentiment deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of the Arochukwu Kingdom. The youth wing fervently expressed its unwavering support for Eze Kanu Nwa Kanu, also known as Eze Ibom Isii, dismissing the purported suspension orchestrated by the Abia State Government, operating under the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. They underscored that this suspension lacks any semblance of recognition within the complex socio-cultural structure of the Arochukwu Kingdom.

Aro Okeigbo Blog's correspondent on the ground reported that the youth wing, in a spirited display, clarified that Arochukwu, by its very nature, is not an autonomous community. Therefore, any actions taken by external entities, such as the alleged suspension, are rendered null and void within the kingdom's confines. Further, the youth wing took the opportunity to commend Eze Kanu Nwa Kanu for his pivotal role in the coronation process, lauding his commitment to upholding the sacred traditions and customs that define the Arochukwu Kingdom.

In response to circulating rumors, the protesters vehemently denounced any claims suggesting that Prince N'mazi Eberechukwu Oji is the rightful heir to the Eze Aro throne. Their argument hinged on a crucial disqualification criterion: the continued existence of his father, which, according to the protestors, automatically disqualifies Prince N'mazi Eberechukwu Oji from vying for the revered position.

The youth wing, in a decisive and cautionary tone, called on the public to dismiss any proclamations in the media or churches that assert Prince N'mazi Eberechukwu Oji's legitimacy as the Eze Aro. They asserted that such declarations are not only baseless but also run counter to the established norms governing the selection process. The youth leaders urged the Arochukwu community to resist the allure of misleading information and to maintain a unified front during this critical juncture.

Addressing the wider public and stakeholders, the youth wing extended an olive branch to the government, specifically urging restraint in its involvement in the traditional affairs of the Arochukwu Kingdom. They articulated a clear stance: the alleged suspension of Eze Ibom Isii is an affront to the beliefs and values of the Aro people. The youth leaders maintained that the suspension holds no sway in Arochukwu and implored the government to respect the choice of the people in the coronation of Eze Kanu Nwa Kanu.

As the Akama Ano youth wing fortifies its position in defense of Arochukwu's cultural integrity, their resolute stance serves as a beacon, illuminating the significance of safeguarding ancestral traditions in the face of external pressures. The unfolding narrative in the Arochukwu Kingdom resonates with a call for unity, love, and peace—a rallying cry that echoes beyond the borders of the kingdom, transcending time and tradition.
